- Tomorrow is Dare to Wear Pink. - New elementary information session tonight at Nose Creek in the LC 6:30-8:00pm. - In science we learning about wetland ecosystems. - Finish humanities homework about the Atlantic if you did not finish in class. - Pink Week Schedule: Monday is pink pop, Tuesday is wear pink, Wednesday is pink dance, Thursday is caps for pink day. - Meet the Teacher next Thursday, September 19th. - Science: moldy bread https://science.howstuffworks.com/science-vs-myth/what-if/what-if-eat-moldy-bread.htm - Humanities: students need to have complete labelling and colouring their Canada and Canadian Geographic Regions maps. As well, they must have their sheets about British Columbia across to Ontario completed by the end of today. We will look at the Atlantic tomorrow and the North on Friday.
- Students will have a quiz where they will be asked to label the provinces, territories and capitals on a map of Canada. The quiz will be on Wednesday, September 18th. They can use this site to review at home: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/Canadian_Geography.htm - Science: we reviewed the scientific method today and will prepare for an experiment tomorrow and Friday. - Math: we are reviewing place value and mental addition and subtraction. In grade 5 students will broaden their number range and go from learning about, and using, numbers in the ten thousands, up to the hundred thousands and million. - Next Thursday, September 19th is Meet the Teacher at Nose Creek School. Sessions start at 6pm and run every 30 minutes. - The Pink Week schedule for next week is below. - Finish humanities mapping work. If students did not finish their mapping and information for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba, it is for homework. An example of what it could look like is below. They have three sheets to make sure are complete.

In humanities we are learning about Canada, the provinces and territories, and the capital cities. We will be learning about the regions and resources available in Canada, too. There will be a humanities quiz next week where students will have to label the provinces, territories, capitals and oceans.
In science we are learning about scientists and the scientific method. We will be doing an experiment using bread this week. In math, we are starting addition, subtraction and place value using numbers up to one million. We completed a diagnostic to see where everyone is at with these skills. - ADmazing orders can be handed in to the office. If you pay with a cheque, please write it out to FANS Nose Creek. - Next week is Pink Week in support of the Nose Creek Breast Cancer Awareness Run team.
