Unit Vocabulary
Factors: the two numbers being multiplied
Product: the result of two factors being multiplied Commutative property: you can multiply numbers in any order. 2x3=6 3x2=6 Distributive property: you can multiply in parts. 5x4 = 3x4 + 2x4 |
Dividend: the number being divided (usually the larger number). 100 / 50 = 2.
Divisor: the other number. 100 / 50 = 2. Quotient: the result when one number is divided by another. 100 / 50 = 2. Distributive property: you can divide in parts. 48÷8= 24 ÷ 8 + 24 ÷ 8. It is not equal to 48 ÷ 4 + 48 ÷ 4. |
